Primary Purpose
What your role contributes to Scripps
The producer will create, lead and organize content for multiple
platforms utilizing strong editorial, journalistic, organizational and
communication skills.
Key Activities
The primary processes you conduct in your role
- Develop and organize newscasts; responsible for writing, story development and showcasing
- Works closely with news managers, assignment editors and associate
producers to determine content needs
- Enhance content of the rundown
with graphics, video, research, and station branding
- Execute time
sensitive decisions
- Write clearly for multiple platforms
- Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and
libel laws
- Responsible for oversight of live broadcast and up to the minute editorial decisions
- Edit video for multiple platforms
- Post content to station's Web sites
- Perform duties as assigned
Requirements/Skills
- BS/BA in related discipline.
- Generally 3-5 years of experience in related field.
- Fully competent and productive professional contributor, working independently on larger, moderately
complex projects/assignments.
- Performs full range of standard professional level work that typically requires processing and
interpreting, more complex, less clearly-defined issues. Identifies
problems and possible solutions and takes appropriate action to resolve.
- Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance
only on unusual complex problems or issues.
- Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct
"customers" of the process.
- May provide general guidance or train junior level support and professional personnel.
- Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of particular
field of specialization to the completion of moderately complex
assignments. Solid knowledge of organization's technologies and
practices.
